ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a series of successful operations, Pakistan’s security forces have killed at least 11 terrorists across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between March 26 and 27, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operations took place in various regions, including North Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan.
Targeted Operations in North Waziristan
The first operation, conducted in the general area of Mir Ali, North Waziristan, was an intelligence-based mission aimed at eliminating terrorist hideouts. During the operation, five militants were killed as security forces engaged their location.
A second operation in the same region neutralized three additional militants. The ISPR confirmed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased terrorists, who were involved in several acts of terrorism.
Miran Shah and Dera Ismail Khan Encounters
Further operations took place in Miran Shah, another district in North Waziristan, where security forces eliminated two more terrorists. Meanwhile, in the general area of Daraban in Dera Ismail Khan district, one more terrorist was killed in another engagement.
The operations, according to ISPR, were carried out with precision and aimed at dismantling terrorist networks operating in these regions. Security forces also initiated sanitization procedures to ensure the elimination of any remaining terrorist threats in the areas.
Ongoing Fight Against Terrorism
The recent operations come at a time when Pakistan has been facing a resurgence in terrorist activity, particularly in its border regions. The country has witnessed a rise in militant attacks following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Recent data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) indicated that terrorist incidents in January 2025 surged by 42% compared to the previous month.
KP, along with Balochistan, has been the most affected by these attacks. In January alone, KP saw 27 terrorist attacks in its settled districts, resulting in 19 fatalities, including 11 security personnel and 6 civilians. The tribal areas of KP, previously part of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), also witnessed 19 attacks, leading to 46 deaths, including 13 security forces members and 25 militants.
Continued Efforts to Eliminate Terrorism
The Pakistani military remains committed to eradicating the threat posed by terrorists, with ongoing efforts to secure the country’s borders and combat militancy. The recent successes underline the country’s determination to neutralize these violent groups and restore peace in the region.
The ISPR statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to “wipe out the menace of terrorism” and maintain security for its citizens.
