ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Players of Islamabad United wore black armbands during their Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 match against Multan Sultans on Wednesday, a gesture that stirred curiosity among fans watching the clash unfold at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Tribute to Rumman Raees’ Late Sister
The franchise later clarified through its official social media platforms that the black armbands were worn in solidarity with the team’s fast bowling coach, Rumman Raees, following the passing of his sister.
“Islamabad United will wear black armbands today in solidarity with @rumman5550 and his family, following the tragic passing of his sister. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rumman during this incredibly difficult time,” read a statement shared by the team on Instagram.
Images posted online showed players applying black tape on their arms just before the match began—an emotional gesture marking their support for the coach during his time of grief.

Despite the somber mood, Islamabad United maintained their top form on the field, defeating Multan Sultans by seven wickets in the 13th match of PSL 10. Chasing a target of 169, United reached the mark with 17 balls to spare, securing the victory on the first ball of the 18th over.
