ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace on Sunday, once again ruling out any intentions to develop nuclear weapons. Speaking during a cabinet meeting in Tehran, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program remains solely for peaceful purposes and that the country is fully dedicated to diplomatic negotiations.
Iran’s Stance on Nuclear Development
Pezeshkian stressed that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons and will not do so in the future. He underscored that Tehran’s intentions are rooted in peaceful objectives, not military expansion or regional instability.
“We are engaged in negotiations with the United States because we want peace and do not seek war,” Pezeshkian stated, addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities. He further assured that Iran’s nuclear program is purely for peaceful energy purposes and reiterated that the country has no desire to contribute to unrest in the region.
Pursuing Diplomatic Solutions
The Iranian president highlighted that Tehran is committed to ongoing diplomatic efforts and is serious about reaching a comprehensive agreement. While Iran is willing to cooperate in these talks, Pezeshkian made it clear that the country will not compromise on its right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
“We will never give up our right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” Pezeshkian asserted. His comments come amid increasing international pressure for transparency regarding Iran’s nuclear activities, especially as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) remains a point of contention following the United States’ withdrawal in 2018.
International Focus on Iran’s Nuclear Program
Despite efforts to engage in peaceful negotiations, Western powers continue to push for more stringent controls and transparency under the JCPOA framework. These developments come at a time when international scrutiny over Iran’s nuclear intentions has intensified, with ongoing concerns about the potential for instability in the Middle East.
However, Pezeshkian’s remarks serve as a reminder of Iran’s longstanding position—that its nuclear ambitions are peaceful and geared toward energy production, not military proliferation.
As diplomatic talks continue, Iran remains firm in its commitment to peace, balancing its nuclear energy ambitions with the pursuit of regional stability and international cooperation.
