ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy at the Prime Minister’s House on Friday, where both sides discussed key bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peace in South Asia, emphasizing that the country had exercised significant restraint in the face of recent tensions with India. He stated that while Pakistan had the right to defend itself, its response remained “measured, proportionate and targeted.”
He also reiterated Pakistan’s firm adherence to the ceasefire understanding and stressed that the nation would continue to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
Prime Minister Shehbaz extended his warm greetings to King Charles III and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, expressing satisfaction over the current trajectory of Pakistan-UK relations. He highlighted a strong desire to further deepen cooperation across various sectors.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy congratulated Pakistan on the ceasefire development and expressed the UK’s ongoing commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region. He acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts and pledged the UK’s constructive role in further enhancing regional diplomacy.
The meeting marked a step forward in strengthening strategic ties between the two countries and reaffirmed mutual goals of regional stability and expanded bilateral engagement.
