ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a revamped 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 series against Bangladesh, set to take place in Lahore. The new squad reflects a strategic shift, with several key players missing from the lineup.
Key Changes in the Squad
In a surprising move, the PCB has dropped star players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi from the squad. This decision marks a significant departure from the usual lineup, as the team shifts its focus toward building a mix of experienced and emerging talents.
Salman Ali Agha, who has impressed with his recent performances, will continue to lead the Pakistan side, with Shadab Khan named as vice-captain. This series will be a pivotal moment for Agha, as it will test his leadership capabilities on the international stage.
A Step Toward Future Growth
The squad’s selection follows the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season, with players being chosen based on their recent form in the tournament. The aim is to build a competitive and balanced team, not just for the upcoming series, but also with an eye on future international challenges.
“This new-look squad is a reflection of the ongoing evolution in Pakistan’s cricketing strategy,” said a PCB spokesperson. “The series against Bangladesh provides an opportunity for emerging players to demonstrate their skills in a competitive setting.”
