During a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House, Trump stated, “We’re doing big deals with Pakistan and India after the ceasefire.” He emphasized the role of trade in de-escalating tensions, noting, “I think I settled it through trade.” Trump also praised the leadership of both countries, describing Pakistan’s people as “wonderful” and their leaders as “outstanding,” and referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “friend” .
The ceasefire, announced on May 10, 2025, marked the end of intense military exchanges between India and Pakistan.
