ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially announced the summer vacation schedule for all public and private schools across the province, amid rising temperatures affecting large parts of the country.
Vacation Dates by Region
According to a notification issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, summer holidays in most districts of KP will begin on June 15 and continue until August 31.
However, schools located in the province’s upper districts — known for their cooler climate — will observe a shorter break. Institutions in these areas will remain closed from July 1 to July 31.
The department confirmed that the schedule applies to *both public and private schools* under the jurisdiction of the provincial education authority.
Heatwave Response Across Provinces
The decision comes amid an ongoing heatwave across Pakistan, with educationists and parents urging authorities to take timely precautions to protect students from extreme weather.
In Punjab, the School Education Department has already announced summer break schedules. *Afternoon shift schools in the province began their vacations on May 25, while morning shift schools are set to start their break from May 28. All schools in Punjab are expected to reopen on August 15, subject to temperature conditions at the time.
The nationwide school closures aim to safeguard children’s health as meteorological departments continue to issue heatwave warnings for multiple regions.
