ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, held a significant meeting in Beijing with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, who also leads the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The dialogue underscored the enduring “ironclad” relationship between the two nations and reiterated commitments to advancing bilateral ties under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Strategic Partnership Reaffirmed
During the meeting, Liu highlighted that China views Pakistan as a top diplomatic partner and reaffirmed the country’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and counter-terrorism efforts.
“China is willing to work with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, maintain high-level exchanges and strategic communication, and promote the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era,” Liu stated.
He also emphasized Beijing’s intention to upgrade CPEC into a more advanced model of economic cooperation and deepen collaboration in infrastructure, trade, and regional development.
PML-N and CPC Expand Party-to-Party Ties
Liu praised the long-standing friendship between the CPC and the PML-N, noting that the two political parties have maintained consistent and constructive engagement over the years. He expressed China’s willingness to further strengthen inter-party exchanges, particularly in governance, youth development, think tank cooperation, and media collaboration to enhance people-to-people connectivity.
Pakistan Expresses Gratitude for China’s Support
Deputy Prime Minister Dar, in turn, conveyed deep appreciation for China’s unwavering support of Pakistan’s economic and social development, as well as its advocacy for Pakistan in international forums.
“Pakistan-China friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people,” said Dar. “The ironclad friendship between the two sides has withstood the test of international changes and is unbreakable.”
He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and economic growth, adding that any violations of national sovereignty would be met with firm resistance. Dar also voiced Pakistan’s full support for China’s Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative (GSI), and Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), pledging to cooperate closely on these international strategies.
Regional Stability and Ceasefire Dialogue
Both sides also discussed the ongoing Pakistan-India conflict. Liu welcomed the ceasefire agreement and expressed China’s willingness to play a constructive role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Dar acknowledged China’s diplomatic efforts in mediating tensions and stressed the importance of sustained communication between the two countries on regional issues.
Diplomatic Representation at the Meeting
The high-level talks were also attended by Sun Haiyan, Deputy Minister of the CPC’s International Department, and Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque.
The meeting concluded with both sides affirming a shared vision for regional peace, economic integration, and strengthened political partnership as China and Pakistan approach new milestones in their strategic alliance.
