ISLAMABAD (PEN) : President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan arrived in Slovenia on Wednesday for an official visit at the invitation of Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Warm Reception at Jože Pučnik Airport
Upon his arrival at Jože Pučnik International Airport in Ljubljana, President Mirziyoyev was received with full state honors. He was welcomed by Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, along with other senior government officials. National flags of both Uzbekistan and Slovenia were displayed, and a ceremonial guard of honor was present to greet the visiting dignitary.
High-Level Talks and Business Forum on the Agenda
During his stay, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold formal talks with President Pirc Musar, and meet with leaders of Slovenia’s parliament and government. A key feature of the visit will be a joint Uzbekistan-Slovenia business forum aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.
The agenda includes wide-ranging discussions on expanding bilateral trade, launching joint ventures in sectors such as industry, pharmaceuticals, green energy, electrical engineering, and agriculture. Cooperation in labor migration and humanitarian initiatives is also expected to be addressed.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The official visit underscores Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to deepen its international partnerships, particularly in Europe, and Slovenia’s interest in engaging with Central Asian economies. Both sides are expected to sign agreements and explore new pathways for economic, technological, and cultural collaboration.
