ISLAMABAD (PEN) : A major terror plot was foiled in Punjab as the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a targeted operation near Rahmani Khel Mor in Mianwali, resulting in the death of three suspected militants. Authorities confirmed that six others managed to escape amid a heavy exchange of gunfire.
Intelligence-Led Operation Disrupts Terrorist Plans
According to CTD officials, the operation was launched based on actionable intelligence regarding a group of militants planning coordinated attacks on police check-posts in the region.
As CTD personnel approached the suspects, they came under intense fire. In the ensuing shootout, three militants were neutralized, reportedly by fire from their own associates. The remaining suspects fled the area.
Weapons and Explosives Seized
Following the operation, CTD teams recovered a cache of arms from the scene, including assault rifles, three hand grenades, multiple rounds of ammunition, and explosive materials.
Security forces have since initiated a widescale search operation to apprehend the fugitives. Additional checkpoints have been set up around Rahmani Khel Mor to prevent their escape from the area.
Authorities Reaffirm Commitment to Public Safety
CTD officials reiterated that the group had finalized plans for a series of assaults targeting law enforcement infrastructure. The timely intervention has prevented potential large-scale violence.
The operation highlights the CTD’s continued efforts to dismantle terror networks and maintain security across the province.
