ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring partnership with China and praised the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in fostering regional development during a ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the Balochistan Economic Forum (BEF) and the 12th anniversary of CPEC.
The event, held at the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, brought together government officials, diplomats, and economic stakeholders to celebrate the strategic collaboration between the two nations.
Strengthening Regional Connectivity
Speaking as the chief guest, Governor Mandokhel highlighted CPEC’s critical role in reshaping Pakistan’s economic landscape and promoting regional connectivity.
“China has always supported us in times of difficulty,” he stated, calling China a “steadfast partner” and labeling the bilateral relationship as a foundation of Pakistan’s development.
He emphasized Balochistan’s geographical importance as a gateway linking Pakistan with Central Asia and neighboring regions, and noted that ongoing efforts to enhance inter-regional infrastructure were essential to maximizing CPEC’s benefits.
Industrial Expansion and Infrastructure Development
Mandokhel outlined future development plans, including the establishment of new industrial zones across Balochistan. These initiatives aim to attract investment, stimulate job creation, and modernize key sectors of the provincial economy.
He also praised Chinese-backed power projects for helping to alleviate Pakistan’s energy challenges, saying they were instrumental in building long-term energy security.
“Balochistan’s transport and communication systems will be upgraded under CPEC-linked projects,” he added, expressing confidence that these changes would position the province as a future economic hub.
Diplomatic and Strategic Outlook
The governor confirmed his intention to promote CPEC’s achievements and bilateral cooperation during an upcoming visit to China, signaling continued commitment to economic diplomacy.
Mandokhel also lauded the role of Chinese defense technologies, describing them as globally competitive and strategically important for Pakistan’s defense and development needs.
In his address, he acknowledged Sardar Shaukat Popalzai, founder of the Balochistan Economic Forum, for championing regional integration and inclusive growth initiatives.
