ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on Tuesday, May 27, to sight the moon that will determine the date of Eid-ul-Adha across Pakistan this year.
According to the committee’s schedule, if the Dhu al-Hijjah crescent is sighted on May 27, Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on June 6 (Friday). However, if the moon is sighted on the following day, June 7 (Saturday) will mark the festival.
Astronomical Predictions and Hajj Timeline
The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has forecasted that Eid-ul-Adha will most likely fall on June 7, 2025. In a recent statement, Suparco noted that the new moon for Zilhaj is expected to be born on May 27 at 8:02 pm Pakistan Standard Time.
The Hajj pilgrimage traditionally begins on the 8th day of Zilhaj and continues until the 13th. This year, Hajj is projected to take place between June 4 and June 9.
Additional Arrangements
In related developments, Emirates Airlines has announced plans to operate 46 additional flights to accommodate the surge of pilgrims traveling for Hajj and Eid.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s moon sighting will play a crucial role in finalizing the official date for Eid-ul-Adha, a major religious festival celebrated by Muslims across Pakistan and around the world.
