ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Bilal bin Saqib as his Special Assistant on Crypto and Blockchain, an official notification from the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed on Monday. The position carries a status equivalent to a Minister of State.
Bilal bin Saqib currently leads the Pakistan Crypto Council as its Chief Executive Officer, an organization focused on promoting cryptocurrency and blockchain technology within the country. His new appointment marks the first time that the federal government has created a dedicated role to oversee developments in crypto and blockchain sectors.
Over recent years, Saqib has been an active advocate for integrating blockchain technology into governance and financial systems. He has emphasized the need for a clearer regulatory framework aimed at protecting consumers and boosting investor confidence.
