ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Indian Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, while speaking in the United States, launched a sharp critique of U.S. President Donald Trump, calling him a leader lacking in political foresight and intellectual depth.
Tharoor stated that Trump does not possess the wisdom or maturity expected from someone in such a high office.
Sharing his personal experiences, Tharoor said he has met four to five American Presidents over the years, including both George Bush Sr. and Jr., Bill Clinton, and briefly Barack Obama.
He described his conversations with them as enriching, highlighting that each of those leaders had a unique class, a clear political vision, and a sense of statesmanship.
Tharoor emphasized that his remarks were not politically motivated, noting that he interacted with Presidents from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
“They all had a degree of influence, intellectual gravitas, and maturity that is clearly absent in Donald Trump,” he said. According to Tharoor, Trump lacks the leadership qualities that distinguished his predecessors.
