ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan has strongly denounced recent actions by Israeli authorities and settlers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing them as provocative violations of international law and a direct threat to regional stability.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Tuesday, Islamabad condemned what it called “flagrant” attempts by Israel to alter the religious, legal, and historical status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.
“Such actions are unacceptable and constitute a flagrant violation of international law, and have the potential to further escalate an already volatile situation in the region,” the spokesperson said.
Concern Over Attacks on Palestinian Civilians
Pakistan also expressed grave concern over continued Israeli military operations in Gaza, particularly the targeting of civilian infrastructure. The Foreign Office highlighted a recent incident involving a strike on a school sheltering displaced families, calling it a blatant example of “Israeli impunity.”
“The harrowing images being witnessed by the world in the aftermath of the attack that resulted in dozens of deaths, many of them children, should be a wake-up call for the international community,” the spokesperson stated.
> “These attacks must end forthwith, and Israel must be held accountable for its heinous crimes.”
Call for Palestinian Statehood
Reaffirming its support for the Palestinian cause, Pakistan reiterated its stance for the creation of an independent Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital.
> “Pakistan reiterates its unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination,” the statement concluded.
