ISLAMABAD (PEN) : A spokesperson for the French military has responded to recent claims that a Rafale fighter jet was shot down by the Pakistan Air Force during the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India.
Speaking at a press briefing in Paris, the official highlighted that the details surrounding the incident remain unclear and are subject to verification. “We are closely monitoring the situation concerning the Rafale’s performance and are in direct contact with our partner, India, to obtain accurate information,” the spokesperson stated.
The spokesperson noted that the aerial engagement reportedly involved hundreds of aircraft, reflecting the scale of the confrontation. “France is keen to learn as much as possible from this combat experience,” he added.
Addressing the significance of the event, the official said, “If the reports of the Rafale being downed are confirmed, it would mark the first such incident in the aircraft’s two decades of operational service.”
