ISLAMABAD (PEN) : British singer Ed Sheeran has excited fans with a recently released video showcasing his fondness for Punjabi music.
In the video shared on Instagram, Sheeran is seen enjoying an auto-rickshaw ride through the streets of Mumbai, singing along to his upcoming track Sapphire. What stood out most to viewers were the song’s Punjabi lyrics, blending Indian musical elements with his signature style.
The clip captures Sheeran engaging warmly with locals, waving and exchanging high-fives as he moves through the bustling city. Accompanying the post, he wrote, “Riding around the streets of India, missing high-fives. Sapphire out June 5th, 8:30am ET / 1:30pm BST / 6pm IST.”
Sheeran had previously teased Sapphire and his forthcoming album Play, revealing on Instagram that the project reflects his emotional recovery and cultural exploration. He said, “Play was an album that was made as a direct response to the darkest period of my life. Coming out of all of that, I just wanted to create joy and technicolour, and explore cultures in the countries I was touring.”
