ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar, is set to enter into a second marriage, nearly 19 months after his divorce from his first wife, Ayesha Saif Khan.
Reliable sources close to the family have confirmed that Junaid Safdar’s upcoming engagement has been arranged within the Sharif family circle, signaling a new phase in his personal life following his separation from Ayesha Saif Khan in October 2023.
Junaid had married Ayesha Saif Khan — daughter of Saif-ur-Rehman Khan, a former close aide to Nawaz Sharif and ex-head of Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) — in August 2021. The private ceremony took place in London, attended by family and close friends, drawing media attention due to the prominence of both families. The couple parted ways amicably after over two years of marriage.
A Cambridge graduate holding two Master’s and two Bachelor’s degrees from renowned UK institutions, Junaid has been actively supporting his mother’s political activities since returning to Pakistan full-time in late 2023.
Insiders reveal that the new engagement reflects the Sharif family’s ongoing tradition of arranging marital alliances within close relatives, a common practice among influential political families in Pakistan.
The identity of Junaid Safdar’s fiancé has not yet been officially disclosed, though sources confirm she belongs to the Nawaz Sharif family.
