ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan Railways has reported record-breaking earnings of *Rs83 billion* in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, marking the highest revenue generated by the organization during this period in its history.
This financial achievement reflects strong operational performance, improved revenue management, and continued reforms in the national transport sector.
Strong Growth in Passenger and Freight Revenue
According to official data, *passenger services contributed Rs42 billion, while **freight operations generated Rs29 billion. An additional **Rs12 billion* was earned through various other income streams, including rentals, land leasing, and ancillary services.
With one month still remaining in the fiscal year, the organization is on track to surpass its all-time annual revenue record of *Rs88 billion*, set previously.
Karachi Division Leads in Earnings
The *Karachi Division* emerged as the top revenue generator, earning *Rs13 billion* from passenger traffic and *Rs25 billion* from freight operations. The *Lahore Division* followed with *Rs10 billion* from passenger trains and *Rs0.75 billion* from freight.
The *Rawalpindi and Multan Divisions* contributed *Rs4 billion each* through passenger services, totaling *Rs8 billion combined*.
Year-over-Year Revenue Surge
The current figure of *Rs83 billion* marks a significant increase from the *Rs77 billion* earned over the same 11-month period last year, underlining a positive upward trend in both efficiency and public trust in rail services.
Minister Credits Teamwork and Reform
Federal Minister for Railways *Muhammad Hanif Abbasi* commended the achievement, emphasizing the collective effort of the workforce.
“With dedication and hard work, we will firmly place Pakistan Railways back on its feet and continue this journey of progress,” Abbasi stated.
