ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for light rain and isolated thunderstorms in parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), while warning of continued hot and dry conditions across much of the country.
Rain Forecast for Punjab and KP
According to the PMD, scattered thunderstorms and light rainfall are likely in several southern and central districts of Punjab, including Multan, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Khanewal, and Dera Ghazi Khan. These areas may also experience gusty winds accompanying the precipitation.
In northern Punjab, popular hill stations such as Murree and Galiyat are expected to see partly cloudy conditions with a chance of light showers—offering brief respite from dry weather.
Over in KP, districts such as Kohistan, Swat, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur may witness rainfall with strong winds, creating the potential for localized disruptions.
Hot and Dry Weather Elsewhere
While parts of Punjab and KP brace for wet weather, the Met Office reports no relief from the heat for Sindh and Balochistan. Both provinces will continue to experience extremely hot and dry conditions, with no significant rainfall predicted in the near term.
Advisory for Citizens
Authorities have urged residents in affected regions to exercise caution during thunderstorms and strong wind conditions. The public is advised to stay indoors during periods of heavy rain or gusts to ensure safety.
The PMD continues to monitor weather developments and encourages citizens to follow official updates for timely information.
