ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive Officer Todd Greenberg has announced that the Australian men’s team will tour Pakistan next year for a white-ball series, marking another significant step in strengthening bilateral cricket ties between the two countries.
White-Ball Series on the Cards
Speaking to the media, Greenberg confirmed that the upcoming tour will include limited-overs fixtures—comprising One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). While exact dates and venues have yet to be finalized, both cricket boards are actively coordinating schedules for the 2026 season.
“The series against Pakistan is an important part of our schedule,” said Greenberg. “We’re committed to maintaining strong cricketing relations.”
Red-Ball Talks Underway
Greenberg also hinted at ongoing discussions regarding a potential red-ball (Test) series in the future. “There have been good discussions for the red-ball series as well,” he noted, suggesting that broader bilateral engagements are being explored beyond just white-ball formats.
Reflecting on 2022’s Historic Tour
Recalling Australia’s landmark tour to Pakistan in 2022—their first in 24 years—Greenberg praised the hospitality and success of that series, which included Tests and limited-overs matches in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
“The 2022 tour of Pakistan was fantastic,” he said, describing it as a “landmark moment” for international cricket in the region.
Pakistani Players Welcomed in BBL
The CA chief also expressed enthusiasm about the growing impact of Pakistani players in international T20 leagues, particularly the Big Bash League (BBL).
“We will welcome as many Pakistani players as possible to the Big Bash,” Greenberg affirmed, highlighting Cricket Australia’s commitment to diversity and global talent development.
