ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Punjab government has approved a significant reduction in power tariffs aimed at providing relief on electricity bills for consumers across the province. The decision was finalized during the 26th meeting of the provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Tariff Cuts for Thermal Power Plants
The cabinet gave the green light to a proposal lowering electricity rates for Punjab-based power companies, specifically *Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Pvt Ltd* and *Punjab Thermal Power Pvt Ltd. The move is expected to result in a **30% to 40% decrease* in electricity bills for end-users.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of this measure in addressing public concerns over rising energy costs. The initiative reflects the provincial government’s broader strategy to deliver targeted economic relief and improve affordability for households.
