ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Actress Sahar Hashmi, who plays Riya in the popular drama Mann Mast Malang, recently stirred controversy with her candid remarks about the show and her co-star Danish Taimoor’s character.
Actress Praises Drama’s Flavorful Storyline
In a recent interview, Sahar revealed what initially attracted her to the project. “I read about three to five episodes and thought, ‘This is yummy,’” she said with a smile, highlighting her immediate connection to the script. She also quoted veteran actress Saba Hameed, who described the drama as “chaat with 14 masalas” due to its multiple twists and complex narrative.
On-Screen Chemistry and Nervousness
Addressing the challenges of shooting romantic scenes, Sahar admitted feeling nervous at first. “I’m a jolly person, but doing romantic scenes with Danish was a bit nerve-racking. He has that screen aura—but in real life, he’s just a pookie,” she remarked, sharing moments of laughter and hesitation during filming.
Mixed Reactions from Viewers
Sahar’s remarks, along with the drama’s bold romantic content, have elicited strong responses on social media. Some viewers criticized the show’s portrayal of romance, with comments such as, “These are not romantic scenes. This is vulgarity. Call it what it is.” Others challenged the idea of Danish Taimoor’s screen presence, writing, “We don’t call it aura, we call it tharak.” A few expressed disapproval of both leads, stating, “She and her yummy male lead need therapy.”
