ISLAMABAD (PEN) : China has reiterated its commitment to playing a constructive role in fostering improved diplomatic and regional ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following the announcement that both countries will upgrade their diplomatic missions to ambassadorial level.
Beijing Welcomes Diplomatic Progress
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian welcomed the decision by Islamabad and Kabul, stating it is a “positive and significant step” toward building mutual trust and enhancing cooperation.
“Both the Pakistani government and the interim Afghan administration have announced their decision to upgrade their diplomatic missions to the ambassadorial level. China has welcomed this development,” Lin said during a media briefing on Wednesday.
He further noted that this advancement reflects both nations’ commitment to implementing the outcomes of the informal trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting held in May between China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Regional Stability and Cooperation Emphasized
China believes that the strengthening of diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Afghanistan will contribute to broader regional peace and stability. Lin added that China remains ready to assist in further promoting constructive dialogue and collaboration between the two neighbors.
“This move will help build mutual trust between the two countries, further strengthen cooperation and promote peace and stability in the region,” he said.
The trilateral meeting in May was aimed at revitalizing dialogue mechanisms among the three nations and enhancing coordination on regional security, development, and counterterrorism efforts.
