ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Dawoodi Bohra community in Karachi marked Eid ul Adha today with traditional fervour, gathering in large numbers at various mosques across the city.
Central Congregation at Tahiri Masjid
The largest congregation took place at the historic Tahiri Masjid in Saddar, where community members offered the special Eid prayers. Following the prayers, the faithful proceeded to perform the ritual sacrifice of animals, adhering to the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
Strict Security Measures Ensured
To ensure the safety of the participants, the Sindh government implemented stringent security arrangements. Police and Rangers personnel were deployed, and roads leading to the mosque were closed to facilitate a secure environment for the congregation. These measures were in line with the community’s longstanding tradition of celebrating Eid ul Adha with both devotion and safety.
Global Observance of Eid ul Adha
Eid ul Adha is being celebrated by Muslims worldwide. In Saudi Arabia, the largest gatherings occurred at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who performed Umrah the previous night, offered Eid prayers at Masjid al-Haram. Millions of pilgrims have reached Mina for the Rami rituals, marking the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage.
In the United Arab Emirates, Eid prayers were held across various emirates, with significant gatherings in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The Emirati leadership emphasized themes of peace, prosperity, and charity during the celebrations.
Eid Celebrations in Peshawar
Afghan refugees residing in Peshawar also observed Eid ul Adha with prayers and animal sacrifices in areas such as Tajabad, Faqirabad, Hayatabad, Phando, and Baghbanan. These celebrations reflect the community’s resilience and commitment to maintaining cultural and religious traditions in their host country. 
The Dawoodi Bohra community’s Eid ul Adha celebrations in Karachi exemplify a blend of religious devotion, cultural heritage, and communal unity, underscoring the significance of the festival in fostering solidarity among Muslims worldwide.
