ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have launched a robust security operation for Eid ul Azha, deploying over 3,500 officers to maintain law and order and safeguard citizens across the capital during the holiday period.
Police Deployed Across High-Density Locations
According to an official from the ICT Police, the operation is being carried out on the special instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) and is overseen by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Muhammad Javad Tariq. The deployment covers key areas including mosques, imambargahs, Eidgahs, markets, graveyards, cattle markets, bus terminals, and railway stations.
DIG Tariq stated that “special deployment has been made at major shopping hubs including Jinnah Super Market, F-6, F-10, and Aabpara Market,” adding that Dolphin Force personnel will be patrolling these areas to deter any potential threats.
Eid Prayers and Recreational Areas Secured
A dedicated security unit will manage crowds at Faisal Mosque during Eid prayers, with additional personnel stationed at popular recreational spots. Strict no-parking zones have been established near all places of worship to ensure smooth pedestrian and vehicle flow.
DIG Tariq noted, “A special patrolling plan will be in place throughout the Eid holidays, with Falcon and CRT vehicles covering various city sectors.” Local police stations have also been equipped with extra patrol vehicles to increase response capacity.
Coordination with Transport and Public Services
To streamline holiday travel, police officers have held coordination meetings with bus terminal managers. Volunteers will also assist at terminals to support public convenience. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has finalized a traffic management strategy to ensure smooth vehicle movement and appropriate parking across major roads and Eid venues.
Graveyards and the Islamabad railway station are being closely monitored, with visible police presence maintained throughout the day.
Vigilance at Entry and Exit Points
All entry and exit routes of Islamabad are under heightened surveillance, with special checking teams and the Bomb Disposal Squad conducting security sweeps. Both urban sectors and rural zones are included in the patrol schedule to ensure full coverage.
Commando units will support regular police in maintaining high-level security standards across the city.
Public Advisory Issued
DIG Tariq advised residents to take basic precautions, particularly when leaving home for Eid prayers or family visits. “Citizens are requested to lock their homes securely and remain in contact with local police if needed,” he said. “Police officers are working round the clock to safeguard your life, property, and peace of mind.”
The ICT Police reiterated their commitment to a safe and peaceful Eid celebration for all residents and visitors in the capital.
