ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Over 1.67 million pilgrims marked a key milestone of Hajj 2025 by completing the Day of Arafat without any major incidents, with Saudi authorities lauded for ensuring a safe, organized, and technologically advanced pilgrimage.
Officials confirmed that the movement of pilgrims from Makkah and Mina to Mount Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah went ahead smoothly and on time. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah highlighted the implementation of a unified operational model that featured advanced transportation logistics and real-time crowd management.
Technology and Coordination at the Core
Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region and Vice Chairman of the Permanent Hajj and Umrah Committee, credited meticulous planning and the Kingdom’s integrated service system for the seamless movement.
“Pilgrims were transported…in record time, under flexible and efficient plans, with no security or epidemic incidents reported — all by the grace of God,” Prince Saud said during an address from Arafat.
This year’s operation featured a smart coordination system managed through the Joint Operations and Dispatching Center. Pilgrims were transported via modern buses and the Mashair Train under strict timetables and high-security protocols. Artificial intelligence tools were deployed to forecast congestion and redirect groups in real time, while a 24/7 smart monitoring network enhanced surveillance and response.
The “Nusuk” digital card — integrated with both the “Nusuk” and “Tawakkalna” platforms — allowed officials to precisely monitor pilgrim movements using QR code technology. The initiative contributed significantly to punctuality and safety across the holy sites.
Major Reduction in Health Cases
The Ministry of Health reported a remarkable 90% reduction in heat exhaustion cases compared to last year. Authorities cited proactive preventive measures, nationwide awareness efforts, and synchronized planning across sectors as key contributors.
These efforts align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, especially the Health Sector Transformation Program and the Pilgrim Experience Program, both of which aim to enhance service quality and safety during the Hajj season.
Royal Acknowledgement and Next Steps
Prince Saud extended gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for mobilizing extensive resources for the Hajj. He also recognized Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif for his leadership and praised the dedication of security forces, volunteers, and service teams.
“Continue your noble mission — we are proud of you,” he said.
With the Arafat phase successfully completed, pilgrims are now moving to Muzdalifah before performing the symbolic stoning rituals in Mina — concluding Hajj under a framework driven by innovation, safety, and spiritual fulfillment.
