ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Former Senator Abbas Afridi has died from severe injuries sustained in a gas explosion earlier this week in the Azam Bagh area of Kohat, family members confirmed on Friday.
Incident Details and Confirmation
The blast occurred on Wednesday and was attributed to a gas leak that had built up within the premises. According to local police, the explosion was caused by accumulated gas, which ignited under undetermined circumstances. Afridi suffered critical burn injuries and was promptly shifted to a specialized burn center for medical treatment. Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries.
Funeral Arrangements
Relatives stated that funeral prayers for the former lawmaker will be held in Babri Banda, Kohat. The final rites are expected to draw local officials, political figures, and members of the community in remembrance of Afridi’s public service.
