ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue, asserting that the country’s message of peace will prevail over India’s rhetoric of war. Addressing the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, Bilawal emphasized the importance of diplomacy in resolving regional tensions.
Commitment to Peace Through Dialogue
Bilawal highlighted that during his international engagements, he encountered widespread support for peace. He criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting a narrative of conflict, stating, “Only one person, Modi, is insisting on war at all costs.” The PPP leader reiterated Pakistan’s stance: “We want to establish peace through dialogue and diplomacy.”
Role of the United Kingdom in Regional Stability
Drawing attention to the historical ties between the United Kingdom, Pakistan, and India, Bilawal suggested that the UK could play a constructive role in easing tensions, particularly concerning the Kashmir dispute. He noted that sustained peace in the region would unlock opportunities for economic cooperation and trade, including the revival of key transit routes across South Asia.
Support from British Lawmakers
Bilawal expressed hope that the British MPs he met would support Pakistan’s efforts for peace. He emphasized that peace in the region is in everyone’s best interest and called for collective efforts to promote dialogue over conflict.
In his address, Bilawal underscored that Pakistan’s commitment to peace is unwavering and that the pursuit of dialogue and diplomacy remains the country’s preferred approach to resolving conflicts in South Asia.
