ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather advisory predicting rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across several parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), offering much-needed relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions.
Thunderstorms Likely in Upper Punjab, KP
According to the PMD, strong, dusty winds are expected across the plains of Punjab, while areas such as Talagang, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi may receive light rain. Thunderstorm activity is also forecast in Murree, Galiyat, Chakwal, and Attock, primarily during the evening and nighttime hours.
Islamabad and its surrounding regions will remain hot and dry during the day, with chances of isolated thunderstorm-driven showers emerging later in the evening.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, weather patterns indicate the arrival of strong winds across lowland areas. Northern and upper districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Shangla are expected to experience rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Scorching Heat to Persist in Sindh, Balochistan
Despite the forecast for northern regions, weather conditions in Sindh and Balochistan remain harsh. Cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana are likely to continue experiencing extreme heat, with no immediate relief predicted.
Balochistan’s central and southern regions will also remain under the influence of dry and hot weather, with temperatures expected to stay well above seasonal averages.
Public Advised to Take Precautions
The PMD has urged residents in heatwave-affected areas to take preventive measures, including staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
The advisory comes as large parts of Pakistan endure unusually high temperatures, prompting concern over public health and energy demands.
