ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday for a one-day official visit, aiming to bolster bilateral relations and enhance strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Accompanying the prime minister are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi. The high-level delegation reflects the importance Pakistan attaches to its ties with the Gulf nation.
Key Meetings on Agenda
During the visit, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to the Foreign Office, the leaders will deliberate on a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of shared interest.
The visit is aimed at deepening economic engagement and fostering cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture.
Strengthening Strategic Ties
In a statement, the Foreign Office emphasized that the visit reflects the longstanding, brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, which are rooted in mutual respect, trust, and shared cultural and economic values.
“The visit will further solidify the strategic partnership and expand cooperation across diverse sectors,” the statement read.
The UAE has consistently supported Pakistan through humanitarian aid and development assistance, particularly during times of crisis.
Continuation of Leadership-Level Engagement
Earlier this year, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed visited Pakistan and met with PM Shehbaz in Rahim Yar Khan. During that meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing ties in key sectors, especially mining, minerals, and agriculture.
The UAE president expressed a strong interest in increasing economic collaboration, while PM Shehbaz thanked the UAE for its continued support.
The two leaders also discussed global challenges, including climate change and regional stability, agreeing to work together for peace and prosperity in the region.
A Shared Vision for Development
This visit is expected to pave the way for further strengthening of bilateral relations and exploring new areas for mutual growth. Both nations are committed to building on their shared vision of development, economic resilience, and regional cooperation.
The outcomes of the visit will likely reinforce the foundation for a more robust and multifaceted Pakistan-UAE partnership in the years ahead.
