ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has affirmed that Pakistan is firmly on the path to economic recovery, stressing that the nation cannot afford any further setbacks.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad on Thursday, the minister highlighted recent improvements in the country’s key economic indicators and issued a stern warning against political instability during this critical period.
“We do not need any certificate from PTI today. The stock market and international financial institutions are testifying to Pakistan’s economic improvement,” said Iqbal.
Economic Indicators Show Positive Trends
Citing specific economic data, Ahsan Iqbal pointed out that inflation has sharply declined—from a peak of 38% to 4%—while the policy interest rate has dropped from 23% to 11%. He said these figures demonstrate the effectiveness of the government’s financial management strategies and a turnaround in investor confidence.
Criticism of PTI’s Role
Iqbal criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of obstructing national progress and aligning with harmful narratives.
> “The Pakistani nation is no longer fooled. People have stopped believing in PTI’s claims,” he said, adding that the party was “acting like India’s proxy” by mirroring anti-state rhetoric.
He alleged that PTI’s calls for protest during Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s foreign visits were designed to undermine Pakistan’s diplomatic and security interests.
Urges Responsible Conduct Amid Recovery
The minister emphasized the importance of unity and stability at a time when Pakistan is emerging from economic challenges.
“This is a decisive moment for Pakistan. There is no room for political chaos or adventurism,” Iqbal warned.
He called on all political actors to act responsibly to support the ongoing economic recovery and avoid any actions that could derail progress.
