ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Thursday in Abu Dhabi, reaffirming their countries’ shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in economic, investment, and development domains.
The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati Palace, underscored the enduring partnership between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Both leaders exchanged Eid ul Adha greetings and conveyed prayers for regional peace and prosperity across the Muslim world.
Focus on Development, Diplomacy, and Peace
During their discussions, PM Shehbaz and President Sheikh Mohamed emphasized expanding collaboration to support mutual development goals and regional stability.
They also reviewed key international and regional developments, agreeing on the importance of bolstering efforts aimed at promoting peace and security globally. The prime minister lauded the UAE’s proactive diplomatic role in advancing dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution worldwide.
“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the efforts of the UAE president in advancing peace, security and stability at both regional and global levels,” according to a statement from the meeting.
He also expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support and development initiatives in Pakistan, which have had a tangible impact on national growth.
High-Level Delegations Present
The meeting was attended by senior Emirati officials including Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon; and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouei, among others.
PM Shehbaz was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior government officials. Earlier in the day, he was received at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Tahnoon and other dignitaries.
Highlighting Pakistan’s Tech Push at London Tech Week
Separately, during his visit, the prime minister addressed Pakistan’s participation in London Tech Week 2025, showcasing the country’s ambitions in the digital and tech sectors.
He said Pakistan remains “resolute” in its journey toward a knowledge-based economy, with a strong focus on youth empowerment and global technology engagement.
“This positions Pakistan as a forward-looking country that is harnessing technology, innovation and youth potential to engage with the world,” PM Shehbaz stated.
He commended the Ministry of IT, PSEB, TDAP, and Pakistan’s tech entrepreneurs for presenting a compelling vision at the global forum. “Pakistan’s tech future is bright! INSHA ALLAH,” he added.
The UAE visit marks a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to regional diplomacy and international cooperation, while also projecting its technological aspirations on the global stage. As both nations pledge to deepen their strategic ties, the momentum behind mutual growth and stability appears set to continue.
