ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Saturday condemned the federal budget, asserting it prioritizes the interests of international financial institutions over the needs of the poor.
Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), the former federal minister labeled the budget as a “debt budget,” highlighting that even the presenter of the budget acknowledged this fact. He said,
“When the person presenting the budget himself says it’s a debt budget, then what more can I say?”
Sheikh Rashid criticized the current government’s economic policies, emphasizing that the budget fails to address the challenges faced by common citizens.
Stance on Regional Developments
On the ongoing regional tensions, the AML leader condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, describing them as violations of international law. He noted that the Pakistani nation strongly opposes these actions.
He expressed solidarity with Iran, stating,
“Every Muslim in Pakistan stands with Iran in its struggle against Israel. We believe Iran is on the right side, and we should openly support it. Every child in Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with Iran, and a retaliatory strike is Iran’s right.”
