ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday recognized voluntary blood donors as benefactors not only to individual recipients but to society as a whole. She issued a special message marking International Blood Donor Day, paying tribute to those who selflessly donate blood and urging youth participation in this vital cause.
“Donating blood is essentially a gift of life, and millions of lives are saved each year through the safe transfusion of blood,” the CM stated. She emphasized, “Those who donate blood voluntarily are benefactors not just of a person or family, but of the entire community.”
Punjab Leads with Pakistan’s First Virtual Blood Bank
Highlighting Punjab’s pioneering role, Maryam Nawaz pointed out that the province has established Pakistan’s first formal Virtual Blood Bank. This innovative system allows individuals in urgent need to call emergency helpline 15 and press “4” to instantly connect with registered blood donors.
The Chief Minister explained, “The Virtual Blood Bank serves as a bridge between patients in need and blood donors, ensuring timely and safe blood availability.”
Call to Action for Public Registration
Maryam Nawaz urged the public to register as blood donors through the 15 helpline, the Safe City website, or at nearby Police Khidmat Markaz centers. She underscored the importance of every drop of blood, noting that it holds the power to save lives.
“Every drop of blood is precious and can bring the gift of life to someone in need,” she said, encouraging collective responsibility and active engagement in blood donation initiatives across Punjab.
