ISLAMABAD (PEN) : After more than a decade-long suspension, the Sialkot Express train service has been officially reinstated, drawing enthusiastic celebrations upon its arrival at Sialkot Railway Station.
The restored train will operate on the Lahore–Wazirabad–Sialkot route, providing long-awaited connectivity between these key Punjab cities. The service had been non-operational for the past 12 years, prompting consistent public demand for its revival.
Grand Welcome Marks Return
The relaunch of the Sialkot Express was met with widespread joy and traditional festivities. According to a live report by Samaa TV correspondent Shehzad Ahmad, locals greeted the train with drum beats, jubilant dancing, and showers of flower petals as it rolled into the station.
Speaking on the occasion, the Station Master confirmed the operational route. “The Sialkot Express will run from Lahore to Sialkot via Wazirabad, and then return to Lahore through the same path,” he said.
Public Demand Fulfilled
The Station Master acknowledged the public’s role in advocating for the restoration. “The people of Sialkot have long demanded the restoration of this train service, and today their demand has finally been fulfilled,” he stated.
The revival of the Sialkot Express is expected to ease travel for commuters and strengthen economic and social ties among the connected regions.
