ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan’s security forces neutralized five alleged Indian-sponsored terrorists during two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.
Separate Operations in Peshawar and North Waziristan
The first operation was carried out in Peshawar on June 15, based on credible intelligence reports about the presence of militants linked to a foreign proxy network. The ISPR stated that “own troops skillfully surrounded and effectively engaged their location,” resulting in the deaths of four militants after a fierce exchange of fire.
Among those killed were individuals identified as Kharji Haris and Kharji Baseer, both reportedly involved in a range of militant activities in the region.
In a separate incident on June 16, a similar intelligence-led mission was conducted in the North Waziristan District. One additional militant was killed following a gunfight.
Weapons and Explosives Recovered
Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the deceased militants, who, according to the ISPR, had been “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas.”
Post-Operation Measures Underway
Following the operations, “sanitization efforts” have been launched to ensure the area is clear of any remaining threats. The military emphasized its continued commitment to eradicating what it described as “Indian-sponsored terrorism” from Pakistani soil.
“Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian sponsored terrorism from the country,” the ISPR statement read.
These latest operations come amid a broader counterterrorism campaign aimed at stabilizing volatile regions and disrupting the influence of alleged foreign-backed militant elements.
