ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has praised the newly announced provincial budget, describing it as one of the most inclusive in Punjab’s history, with allocations designed to support every major sector, from healthcare to public welfare.
Budget Prioritizes Journalists’ Welfare and Sectoral Development
Speaking to media representatives, Bukhari expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for addressing key demands, particularly those concerning the journalist community.
“The Chief Minister will soon issue allotment letters, and steps are being taken to ensure timely payment of salaries to journalists,” she stated, adding that comprehensive health coverage would also be provided through the introduction of dedicated health cadres.
Emphasis on Cultural Revival and Economic Uplift
Azma Bukhari highlighted the government’s initiatives for reviving the local film industry, asserting that special measures are underway to support the sector’s growth. “People from other provinces now cite Punjab’s development as a model,” she remarked, pointing to the province’s broader economic progress.
Minimum Wage and Salary Adjustments Lead the Country
She further noted that Punjab now offers the highest minimum wage in Pakistan, with a recent increase to Rs40,000. “Punjab pays the highest salaries and pensions in the country,” she said, affirming the government’s ongoing commitment to socioeconomic upliftment.

Bukhari reiterated that the government remains focused on ensuring sustained progress across all sectors. “The journey of progress and prosperity continues in Punjab,” she concluded, assuring full dedication to responsibilities under her portfolio, especially those related to journalists’ welfare.
