ISLAMABAD (PEN) : A prominent Chinese business delegation, headed by DongKai International Investment CEO Yao Yu, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, in Islamabad to discuss potential investments in Pakistan’s housing industry. The delegation included leading construction and technology firms keen on advancing innovative housing solutions.
Focus on Innovative Housing Technologies and Urban Development
During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the importance of adopting prefabricated and modular construction technologies to improve sustainability, reduce costs, and accelerate housing projects. Yao Yu proposed the establishment of a Dragon Mart-style commercial complex in Pakistan, inspired by the successful Dubai model, to enhance Pak-China trade, promote urban growth, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and create employment opportunities.
Minister Pirzada welcomed the delegation, reaffirming the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China. He underscored the government’s commitment to embracing new construction technologies to meet housing demands efficiently.
Investment Prospects Across Key Regions
Senior Pakistani officials, including Secretary Housing and Works Hamid Yaqub Sheikh, CEO of Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation, and Director General of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority, also participated in the discussions. They presented detailed opportunities for joint ventures and public-private partnerships targeting strategic development zones such as Islamabad Capital Territory, Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The presentations highlighted Pakistan’s growing potential as a hub for real estate development and infrastructure expansion, inviting Chinese investment to contribute to these initiatives.
