ISLAMABAD (PEN) : At least 27 passengers sustained injuries when a signal pole ladder struck multiple trains near Khanewal Railway Station, officials confirmed on Friday.
The injured passengers were aboard the Awam Express (both directions) and Musa Pak Express. Railway authorities noted that many passengers had extended their hands outside the train windows when the ladder made contact, causing injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Preliminary inquiries indicate that unknown individuals deliberately pushed the ladder onto the tracks, resulting in this unusual incident. Among the injured are women, elderly individuals, and younger passengers, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition.
Railway officials have initiated a formal investigation to identify those responsible and to implement measures preventing such incidents in the future.
