ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert ahead of an anticipated pre-monsoon spell set to hit Punjab starting Friday evening.
According to a statement from a PDMA spokesperson, various regions across the province are likely to experience rain, gusty winds, and dust storms through *June 23*. The alert includes both northern and southern districts of Punjab, signaling a widespread impact.
Districts Expected to Receive Rainfall
Showers are forecast in:
* *Northern Punjab:* Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala
* *Central Punjab:* Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sargodha, Jhang, and Mianwali
* *Southern Punjab:* Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar
PDMA *Director General Irfan Kathia* noted that the expected rainfall would offer relief from the ongoing heatwave gripping much of the province. “The upcoming rain spell is expected to reduce the intensity of soaring temperatures,” he stated.
Preparedness Measures
Authorities have been directed to stay on alert and take necessary precautions to minimize disruptions caused by the inclement weather. The PDMA has urged citizens to stay updated through official channels and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain or wind conditions.
