ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Iranian officials have confirmed that Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is alive, countering widespread reports that he was killed during recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran.

State media in Iran released a statement verifying Shamkhani’s survival after several regional and international outlets erroneously reported his death.
