ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet today (Thursday) to observe the Muharram crescent, signaling the start of the new Islamic year. The session, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will take place at the deputy commissioner’s office in Quetta.

Zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees will conduct parallel meetings at their respective headquarters across Pakistan. The official confirmation of the moon sighting will come directly from Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, as the central authority in this religious observance.

Pakistan’s national space agency, Suparco, reports a birth time for the new moon on June 25, 2025, at 3:32 pm. By sunset on June 26, the moon will be about 28 hours and 15 minutes old—a stage generally deemed favorable for visibility.
According to a Suparco spokesperson:
“The birth of the new moon will take place on June 25, 2025, at 3:32pm. By the time the sun sets on June 26, the moon will be approximately 28 hours and 15 minutes old — a condition considered favorable for visibility.”
