ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Federal Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reaffirmed his commitment to building a drug-free environment for Pakistan’s youth, describing it as a fundamental right of the new generation.
Marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the minister expressed concern over the rising trend of drug misuse. He stated,
“The increase of drug abuse in the society is a challenge that needs to be stopped by taking effective measures by the international community.”
Naqvi emphasized Pakistan’s solidarity with global efforts to combat drug abuse and highlighted the country’s actions under the National Anti-narcotics Policy. He praised the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for its active role in countering the menace and paid homage to the officers who have sacrificed their lives in this ongoing battle.
“The nation salutes all the martyrs who fought this war with their blood, this commitment reflects the nation’s collective resolve. Each one of us needs to put an effort to halt the smuggling and abuse of drugs,” he remarked.
The minister underscored the urgent need to safeguard the younger generation by ensuring a drug-free society. He called for stringent identification and punishment of drug traffickers, labeling them as the worst enemies of youth and humanity.
Naqvi concluded by urging the public to unite and work with determination towards eradicating drug trafficking and abuse to create a safer, healthier Pakistan.
