ISLAMABAD (PEN) : An American woman has arrived in Pakistan to marry a man from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Dir district, after the couple developed a relationship online.
Social Media Connection Leads to Cross-Continental Union
The woman, identified as Mindy, met Sajid Zeb Khan through Facebook two years ago. Their friendship gradually turned into a serious relationship, and it was Mindy who eventually proposed, Sajid told local media.
The couple’s decision was shared with their families, and Mindy flew to Pakistan where she was received by Sajid at Islamabad International Airport. From there, the two traveled to Usheri Dara, Sajid’s hometown in Upper Dir.
Ceremony to Follow Islamic and Local Traditions
Sajid confirmed their nikah ceremony would be held on Tuesday, following Islamic principles and local customs. He also informed local police that they did not require any special security arrangements.
A Warm Welcome in Upper Dir
Mindy, who works as a flight attendant and resides in Chicago, expressed her happiness in a video statement recorded at Sajid’s home. “My name is Mindy and I’m from America. I’m here in Pakistan for the first time. It’s a very beautiful, peaceful country. I come for Sajid Khan and we plan to marry soon,” she said.
Locals in the area warmly welcomed Mindy upon her arrival, with many celebrating the rare cross-border union.
