ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Surrey set a new club record on Monday by posting their highest ever total in a County Championship match, declaring at 820-9 against Durham on the second day at the Oval in London.
Opening batsman Dom Sibley led the charge with a commanding 305 runs. His effort was well supported by fellow England internationals Sam Curran, Dan Lawrence, and Will Jacks, who all contributed centuries—108, 178, and 119 runs respectively.
This impressive total surpassed Surrey’s previous best of 811 runs, set against Somerset in 1899 at the same venue. Despite this historic achievement, the highest total in county cricket remains Yorkshire’s 887 against Warwickshire, recorded in 1896. Surrey’s 820-9 now ranks as the fourth-highest total in county cricket history.
The innings highlighted Surrey’s strong batting lineup and marked a significant milestone in the club’s long-standing history.
