ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has confirmed that more than 42,000 Pakistani pilgrims will have returned from Saudi Arabia by tomorrow, July 2, as part of its ongoing post-Hajj repatriation effort.
PIA’s Post-Hajj Operation in Full Swing
PIA reported that it has already facilitated the return of some 24,000 pilgrims on 109 flights using its Boeing 777 and Airbus A320 aircraft. The national carrier has scheduled its repatriation flights to continue until July 10, marking the official end of its Hajj-related service operation.
Early Registration for Hajj 2026 Underway
In parallel, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has launched mandatory early registration for Hajj 2026, running from June 27 through July 9. The process is fee-free and available to prospective pilgrims—both domestic and overseas—through 15 designated banks nationwide ([arabnews.com][1], [app.com.pk][2]).
Registration is open to all intending pilgrims, irrespective of whether they plan to join the government or private Hajj scheme, or had missed out through private operators this year ([arabnews.com][1]). Eligible participants will, after registration, be able to opt for a government or private package. The collected data will be shared with Saudi authorities to determine Pakistan’s Hajj quota for next year ([arabnews.com][1]).
Why Early Registration Matters
Officials emphasise that early registration helps streamline administration, avoid delays, and ensure transparent allocation of slots. This initiative follows instances this year where roughly 67,000 private-scheme applicants missed the Hajj due to late payments and procedural hindrances ([thenews.com.pk][3]).
