ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued efforts to promote peace in the Middle East and its constructive role in fostering a ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India.
The remarks were made during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malkiy in Islamabad. The prime minister also reflected positively on his recent conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, held on June 24, where both leaders discussed key developments in the regional security landscape.
Pakistan Counts on Saudi Support at UNSC
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his respectful regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, expressing confidence in the long-standing bilateral ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
He also noted that as Pakistan assumes the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of July, it looks forward to support from Saudi Arabia to help ensure an effective and smooth term.
Mutual Recognition of Peace Contributions
Ambassador Al Malkiy, in response, thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability. He acknowledged Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful diplomacy and expressed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to enhance cooperation on shared regional objectives.
The meeting underscored the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and their mutual interest in maintaining peace and security across South Asia and the broader Middle East region.
