ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan’s youth netball team delivered a stellar performance to win the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025, defeating the Maldives 60-35 in the final held in Jeonju-si, South Korea.
Unbeaten Run Secures Championship Glory
The Green Shirts maintained an unbeaten streak throughout the tournament, registering victories in all seven of their matches. In the final, they dominated the Maldives from the outset, never relinquishing the lead in any quarter.
Tournament Format and Team Placement
The championship featured 11 teams split into two divisions. Group A, competing for the Gold Cup Division, included top-tier teams like Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and India. Pakistan was placed in Group B, the Plate Division, alongside Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea, the Maldives, and Saudi Arabia.
Semi-Final Triumph Over Japan
Pakistan secured their place in the final after a commanding 64-39 win against Japan in the semi-final. The team took an early 21-7 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 34-19 by halftime. They maintained momentum to finish with a 25-point margin.
Standout Performances
Players including Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, Amani, Parisa, and Farah Rasheed were instrumental in the team’s success, according to the official press release. Their consistent performances contributed significantly to Pakistan’s title-winning campaign.
