ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested seven terrorists from Bahawalpur during a significant intelligence-based operation conducted across various cities of Punjab.
Those arrested included Muawiya, the main commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The security personnel also recovered explosives, hand grenades, and weapons from the arrested individuals.
The operation specifically targeted Bahawalpur, where Muawiya, a high-profile figure within the banned organization, was captured by CTD officials. The swift action by law enforcement has prevented what authorities claimed were attacks planned on multiple institutions.
According to authorities, this week alone, a total of 935 combing operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of 48 suspects. Additionally, over 36,000 individuals were questioned during these operations, highlighting the extensive efforts undertaken by the CTD to maintain security in the region.
The arrests and recovery of weapons are indicative of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of citizens. The CTD reiterated its commitment to achieving the goal of a secure Punjab, emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance and proactive measures to counterterrorist threats.
